Cedric Burgers - Principal Architect

Architect AIBC, MRAIC, LEED AP, Accredited Passivhaus Designer

Cedric holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a masters degree in Architecture from the University of British Columbia, where he also taught as an assistant professor in the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He worked for the architect Daniel Liebeskind and Müller Knippscheld Wehburg Landscape Architects in Berlin, Germany after graduating. He has served on design review committees for the District of West Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver, as well as Commodore of The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in 2023. He is Accredited Passivhaus designer, pioneering low energy design and speaking at TedX and podcasts on sustainable architecture.

Marieke Burgers - Senior Interior Designer

Marieke Burgers co-founded Burgers Architecture in 1981 with her late husband Robert Burgers. She studied Business Management at the Schoevers Institute in The Hague, Netherlands and Urban Land Economics at the University of British Columbia, although her primary interest has always been Interior Design. Marieke developed the Interior Design department of the firm and has acquired an extensive portfolio of upscale private residences and commercial projects with a European sensibility for modern elegance. Her refined taste in materials and contemporary perspective ensures a seamless integration of the client’s needs and the architectural vision.

Mary Burgers - Creative Director | Interior Design

Mary has collected knowledge and expertise from a wide range of fields. Her mulitidisciplinary background includes a BA in Communications from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, completion of Art Studies from St. Charles University in Prague, Graphic Design at the RCC Institute of Technology in Toronto and finally Interior Design at BCIT. A dedicated foodie and writer, Mary’s love for cooking and storytelling led to her column Around My Table for Western Living, where she explored the connections between food, design and community. Her travel as an interior designer continues to take her to international design fairs, the first of which to Dutch Design Week resulted in the firm’s exhibit in partnership with IDS Vancouver, Design Milk and the Consulate of Netherlands. Her interiors and writing contributions have been published in ELLE Decor Canada, GRAY Magazine, Canadian House & Home, Architectural Digest (Italy), Arquitectura Diseño (Spain), and Identity (Dubai).

Ryan Brown - Intern Architect AIBC

Ryan is an Intern Architect with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of British Columbia. Prior to Burgers Architecture, he worked for a firm based out of Seattle, Washington, as well as several engineering firms before pursuing architecture. He is the co-founder of Emergent Risk Lab, a collective of researchers and designers focused on resilient solutions that address natural disasters threatening urban areas around the world.

Dana Lineham - Intermediate Interior Designer

Dana holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature and Visual Arts from St. Thomas University in New Brunswick, as well as a Diploma in Residential Interiors from BCIT. She joins the Burgers team with a background in both Multi-Family Residential Design and Single Family Home Design. A West Vancouver native and outdoor enthusiast, Dana is passionate about preserving the natural environment, seamlessly integrating design with our natural landscape.

Rik Negus - Senior Architectural Technician

Rik began his career working with his father in 1964, throughout his 56 years in the field working for McCarter Nairne Partners, Carlberg Jackson Partners and lb G. Hansen Architect Ltd., where he served as Senior Project Manager for 18 years. He has been responsible for the production of contract documentation for numerous public sector buildings, including schools, libraries and fire halls. Rik’s considerable knowledge has been built through experience and an inquisitive mind. Rik joined Burgers Architecture in 2000, lending his extensive knowledge of wood frame construction as well as detailing concrete and steel structures.

Kaayla Sinclaire - Office Manager

Kaayla joined the Burgers Architecture family in 2021 and brought in a level of organization and attention to detail and has a strong understanding of how to be at the helm in running a business. She has an expert eye for design and luxury goods from her years working with Louis Vuitton and travelling across Canada and internationally with Laura Mercier. She is our point person, our ambassador, and an asset to our team. Clients love her, and we do too.
