GRAYSTONE
Sited above Lake Kalamalka in BC’s interior, this lot has breathtaking views east towards Lumby’s precipitous cliffs, visible on clear days. The home’s modest program allowed for us to be playful with the massing of the building: rotating the lower floor at ninety degrees to the upper floor provided for a bridge like home with a large covered outdoor area and privacy from neighbors. The reverse floor plan puts all the living space downstairs, close to the yard, and obscures the neighbors below. As an added benefit, the views are framed both inside and outside in cinematic horizontal proportions.
